It was a dark and stormy night. I was driving from San Francisco to LA when I spotted the rest stop a few miles in the distance. It was still daylight but everything was darkened except for a slim ray of light on the gas stations. It was like a mirage. This is the fourth cousin of an image I painted originally in 2007. The last one was 48” x 60, and was commissioned by a famous comedienne.
